Snowshoe
With the base we have this year, the options of places to snowshoe are endless! Pack a backpack with some charcuterie and a thermos (hot or cold) of your favorite beverage. The moon will be 95% full this Valentine’s, so if you plan on keeping it short and mellow, share a mug of hot cocoa or a toddy under the moonlight.
Ice Skate
Ice skating is an awesome date for the day or night! There are two rinks in town, one at Truckee River Regional Park and one at The Village at Northstar. If you have your own skates it is free to skate at Northstar! While the Truckee River Regional Park is only an $8 fee and $5 for rental skates. Pack a little picnic lunch or snacks and hang out while watching other skaters. At Northstar, you can explore the village and sit by a nice, toasty fire.
Ski!
What better way to celebrate a day about love than to celebrate with the love of skiing! Ok, I know not everybody loooves to ski or snowboard, but how could we not list this?! If you have passes somewhere, hit the resort in the morning and celebrate with brunch after. If you are going outside of the resort, we recommend the same thing! Get out early for a little dawn patrol and catch the sunrise together. Maybe try and ski all the different kinds of disciplines in one day! Resort in the morning, short tour in the afternoon, and hit a moonlight XC ski.
Point being, there are so many things to do outside here in the Truckee/Tahoe area, so decide what will bring you and your partner the most joy and appreciate the opportunity to spend time with each other outside no matter what it is you do!
